Abstract
As with dermatics, studies that verify the efficacy of cosmetics and meet the criteria of evidence-based medicine (EBM) appear to be necessary. Although the concept of evidence-based cosmetics (EBC) is still in its initial stages, some preparations are already available which can be classified as evidence-based. In this publication we present data from different studies documenting the efficacy of cosmetic preparations for the management of several skin disorders such as cellulite, stretch marks and acne vulgaris in accordance with EBM criteria. Further scientific studies are necessary to examine all important application areas of these cosmetics. Furthermore, the sustainability of the obtained effects will also need to be substantiated.
