Abstract

Crassocephalum multicorymbosum (Asteraceae) is known in Rwanda as Umutagara. Its leaves are used in popular medicine in the treatment of various inflammatory conditions.

Crude extracts of the leaves, stems and roots were tested for their antiinflammatory activity. The extracts of the leaves and stems exhibited a significant inhibition of carrageenin induced oedema at doses of 10.0 g/kg.
