Abstract
Three previously known ingenol esters, milliamines A-C and four new ingenol esters, milliamines D-G, all containing anthraniloyl tripeptides in various positions of ingenol, were isolated from roots and stems of Euphorbia milii, using a combination of counter-current distribution, preparative TLC and preparative HPLC. All the esters were fully characterised and showed irritant activity on the mouse ear. Neither milliamine A nor milliamine C (the most irritant ester) was a tumour promoter on mouse back skin.
