Abstract
From the stem bark of Aspidosperma marcgravianum WOODSON (Apocynaceae) 7 alkaloids were isolated: 4 secamine-type alkaloids - tetrahydrosecamine, decarbomethoxytetrahydrosecamine and two secamine derivatives of unknown structure - and 3 monomeric indole alkaloids - dihydrocorynantheol, 10,11-dimethoxypicraphylline and a hydroxydimethoxypicraphylline derivative. The secamine-type alkaloids and dihydrocorynantheol exhibited antimicrobial activity against grampositive bacteria.
