Four lignans (±-syringaresinol, (-)-pinoresinol, (-)-lariciresinol, (-)-dihydrosesamin, four coumarins (daphnetin, daphnoretin, 7-hydroxy-8-methoxycoumarin, daphneticin), daphneolon and the diterpenoid ester gniditrin were isolated from the roots of Daphne tangutica and their structures elucidated mainly by 1H-, 13C-nmr- and mass-spectroscopy. The CH2Cl2-extract and some isolated compounds showed cytotoxicity.
