Nach Möglichkeit soll die operative Versorgung gelenkerhaltend sein. Als besondere Operationstechnik steht die Verbundosteosynthese zur Verfügung, womit eine sofortige Vollbelastung erreichbar ist. Bei einer pathologischen Fraktur mit Gelenkbeteiligung besteht oftmals die Indikation zum endoprothetischen Ersatz. Ein radikaler Eingrif mit kurativem Ansatz ist selten indiziert.
