Abstract
Azathioprine has been used in paediatric and adolescent rheumatology since the late 1960 s and is still being used in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, with systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, polyarteriitis nodosa, and Behçet’s disease. In the treatment of juvenile idiopathic arthritis, azathioprine is still an option if methotrexate fails.
