Left Ventricular Free Wall Rupture detected with Non-Gated Multislice Computed Tomography

Introduction

Left ventricular free wall rupture (LVFWR) is a rare but often fatal complication after myocardial infarction. (Reardon MJ et al. Ann Thorac Surg 1997; 64: 1509 – 1513). If not initially fatal and diagnosed in time, there is a chance of surgical treatment (Flajsig I et al. Croat Med J 2002; 43: 643 – 648). We report about a case of LVFWR which was detected by chance with non-gated multislice computed tomography and subsequently treated by surgery.
