Zusammenfassung

Veterinärmedizinische Apitherapie ist die medizinische Anwendung von Honigbienenprodukten zum Nutzen eines erkrankten Tieres. Im engeren Sinne bezeichnet der Begriff die Veterinärmedizinische Bienengift-Therapie (VBVT). Erläutert werden die pharmakologisch wirksamen Bestandteile des Gifts, seine klinischen Anwendungsbereiche sowie Kontraindikationen und Nebenwirkungen.

Summary

Veterinary apitherapy is the medical application of honey bee products in sick animals. In a narrower sense the term describes the bee venom therapy in veterinary medicine (VBVT). The bee venom is applied either intradermally via bees that are still alive or via injection of dried venom. The article explains the pharmacological components, the range of clinical applications as well as contraindications, side effects and the practical approach.
