Das pneumologische Beatmungszentrum - Alles unter einem Dach[1]

Vorwort
Vor allem in den vergangenen beiden Jahrzehnten hat die Beatmungsmedizin innerhalb der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Pneumologie einen zunehmenden Stellenwert entwickelt. Viele Abteilungen für Pneumologie beschäftigen sich inzwischen intensiv mit komplexen Beatmungsfällen und der Respiratorentwöhnung. Diese Entwicklung hat Dieter Köhler in den vergangenen zwei Jahrzehnten mit großer Energie, Weitsicht und Ausdauer gefördert und maßgeblich mit dafür gesorgt, dass die deutsche Pneumologie auch auf dem Gebiet der Beatmungsmedizin internationales Niveau hat [1]. Dieter Köhler war federführend für die ersten Leitlinien zur häuslichen Sauerstoff- und Heimbeatmungstherapie verantwortlich [2]. Ein weiteres Beispiel für das außerordentliche Engagement von Dieter Köhler ist die Satzungs- und Namensänderung der DGP in „Deutsche Gesellschaft für Pneumologie und Beatmungsmedizin” aus dem Jahre 2006, die im Wesentlichen seine Handschrift trägt. Es ist mir also eine große Freude, Herrn Prof. Dr. Dieter Köhler aus Anlass seines 60. Geburtstages diesen Artikel zu widmen.
