Abstract

One or both hands of 13 patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis (9), Sharp's syndrome (2), arthritis urica (1) and arthritis psoriatica (1) were examined via MR tomography and conventional x-ray. Osseous changes were visualised in a similar manner and equally well by MR and conventional x-ray. Accurate determination of the extent of the inflammatory process was possible after contrast agent injection of Gd-DTPA. MR tomography can be considered as supplementary to conventional x-ray examination and can provide the clinician with additional diagnostic and therapeutically relevant data in specific cases.

Zusammenfassung

Bei 13 Patienten mit chronischer Polyarthritis (9), Sharp-Syndrom (2), Arthritis urica (1) und Arthritis psoriatica (1) wurden eine oder beide Hände MR-tomographisch und konventionell-röntgenologisch untersucht. Ossäre Veränderungen waren im MR-Tomogramm und im konventionellen Röntgen in ähnlicher Weise gut darzustellen. Entzündliche Aktivität in artikulären und periartikulären Strukturen konnten MR-tomographisch besser erfaßt werden. Nach Kontrastmittelinjektion von Gd-DTPA war eine genaue Beurteilung der Ausdehnung des entzündlichen Prozesses möglich. Die MR-Tomographie ist als Ergänzung zur konventionellen Röntgenuntersuchung zu sehen und kann dem Kliniker in speziellen Fällen zusätzliche diagnostische und therapeutisch relevante Informationen geben.
