Phakoemulsifikation bei Säuglingen*

Zusammenfassung

Die Erkenntnisse rund um die sogenannte Deprivationsamblyopie sprechen für eine Frühoperation der totalen kongenitalen Katarakt möglichst in den ersten Lebensmonaten. Mit Hilfe der Phakoemulsifikation via pars plana wurden insgesamt 7 Augen von Säuglingen innerhalb des ersten Lebenshalbjahres operiert. Die Besonderheiten der Operationsmethode sowie die mit ihr gemachten Erfahrungen werden diskutiert.

Summary

In the light of findings associated with “deprivation amblyopia” early surgery for total congenital cataract appears desirable, if possible in the first months of life. Surgery was performed on a total of seven eyes of infants - with phacoemulsification via the pars plana - before the patients were six months old. The special features of the surgical method employed and the experience gained in using it are discussed.
