Clinical trials of tamsulosin demonstrate that it is an effective treatment modality for the symptoms associated with BPH, and it has practically no effect on blood pressure at a dose of 0.2 mg. This is probably due to its selective affinity for the prostate, which may be due to the strong affinity of tamsulosin for the α1a-receptor subtype.
