Metoclopramide in double contrast barium meal

Summary

The effect of metoclopramide on gastric mucosal coating was studied in this randomized double blind study. One hundred and thirty consecutive patients underwent routine double contrast barium meal. The patients received 20 mg metoclopramide or a placebo before the examination. The visibility of the areae gastricae was used as an indicator of a good mucosal coating. The results indicate that metoclopramide does not have any statistically significant effect on mucosal coating in double contrast barium meal.

Summary

In der vorliegenden randomisierten Doppelblindstudie wurde die Wirkung von Metoclopramid auf die Magenschleimhautdarstellung untersucht. Eine Reihe von 130 Patienten erhielt den konventionellen Doppelkontrastbariumbrei. Vor der Untersuchung wurde den Patienten 20 mg Metoclopramid oder ein Placebo verabreicht. Die Darstellung der Magengegend wurde als Anzeichen einer guten Bedeckung der Magenschleimhaut angesehen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß die Verabreichung von Metoclopramid keine statistisch signifikante Wirkung auf die Magenschleimhaut bei Verwendung des Doppelkontrastbariumbreis hat.
