Abstract

This article outlines the history of the development of endoluminal stents. It describes the various types of endoluminal stents in detail and details the advantages of stented grafts versus and grafted stents, full graft versus composite stents, and self-expanding versus balloon-expanded stents. It also examines the various coverings of Dacron, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and polyurethrane-polycarbonate.
