Abstract

Transcatheter arterial embolization has become an important adjunct to the management of injuries of the neck and face. Hemorrhage from these injuries are often difficult for the surgeon to access, and incision can exacerbate venous bleeding. This chapter discusses interventional techniques in facial and neck trauma. The relevant anatomy of the neck and skull base is reviewed with particular attention to the vascular system. Mechanisms of injury and appropriate imaging tests are delineated along with interventional treatment strategies for arterial injury.
