Zusammenfassung
Keratoplastik wird bei Säuglingen nur im Fall von beidseitiger meist kongenitaler,
totaler Hornhauttrübung ausgeführt. Die Resultate sind außergewöhnlich schlecht. Nur
in einem einzigen von unseren 16 Fällen heilte das Transplantat durchsichtig. Im Alter
von 5-6 Jahren hängen dann die Resultate ebenso wie bei Erwachsenen vom Zustand des
Auges ab.
Summary
In infants, keratoplasty is only performed in cases of bilateral, congenital, total
corneal opacity. Results are very poor. Only one out of 16 grafts remained clear.
From the age of about five or six years the results depend on the condition of the
eye, as is the case in adults.
