Infrared-Contact Coagulation of Parenchymatous Organs - Report of Three Cases

Abstract

Infrared-contact coagulation of the spleen with an infraredsapphire-coagulator was applied in two children with subcapsular haematoma and splenic cyst, thereby achieving complete and partial organ preservation, respectively. This method was also used for haemostasis following the dissection of a common liver in Siamese twins. Infrared-contact coagulation is a proper method for organ preservation in injuries or other pathological conditions of parenchymatous organs.

Zusammenfassung

Die Infrarot-Kontaktkoagulation mit einem Infrarot-Saphir-Koagulator wurde an der Milz bei zwei Kindern mit subkapsulärem Hämatom und angeborener Milzzyste angewandt, wodurch das Organ vollständig bzw. teilweise erhalten werden konnte. Die Methode wurde ebenfalls zur Blutstillung nach Durchtrennung einer gemeinsamen Leber bei siamesischen Zwillingen eingesetzt. Die Infrarot-Kontaktkoagulation ist eine geeignete Methode zur Erhaltung parenchymatöser Organe nach Traumen oder anderen pathologischen Veränderungen.
