Harnwegsinfektionen im Kindesalter: Pathogenese, Diagnostik und Therapie

Zusammenfassung

Harnwegsinfektionen gehören zu den häufigsten Erkrankungen im Kindesalter. Die klinische Symptomatik ist vor allem im Kleinkindesalter uncharakteristisch. In den letzten Jahren haben Untersuchungen über bakterielle Virulenzprinzipien und prädisponierende Wirtsfaktoren die pathogenetischen Vorstellungen zur Entstehung von Harnwegsinfektionen und Nierenparenchymnarben verändert.

Konsequenzen für die Diagnostik und Therapie von Harnwegsinfektionen im Kindesalter werden diskutiert.

Abstract

Urinary tract infections are one of the most common diseases in childhood. Clinical symptoms are uncharacteristic, particularly in infancy and early childhood. Recently, investigations on bacterial virulence principles and predisposing host factors have changed our understanding of the pathogenesis of urinary tract infections and renal scar formation.

Possible consequences for diagnosis and therapy of urinary tract infections in childhood are discussed.
