Malignant Abdominal Schwannoma Associated with von Recklinghausen's Neurofibromatosis

Abstract

A 4-year-old boy with neurofibromatosis was operated on for abdominal tumor and a malignant Schwannoma adhering to the bladder was completely resected. Four months later he died with multiple liver metastases. The authors comment on the main features of this rare tumor and on the problems of malignancy associated with von Recklinghausen's disease.

Ein 4 Jahre alter Junge mit Neurofibromatose wurde wegen eines Abdominaltumors operiert. Ein malignes Schwannom, das mit der Blase verwachsen war, wurde vollständig entfernt. 4 Monate später starb das Kind an multiplen Lebermetastasen. Die Autoren besprechen die wesentlichen Eigenschaften dieses seltenen Tumors und die Probleme der Malignität im Zusammenhang mit der von Recklinghausenschen Erkrankung.
