Abstract

Eight compounds were isolated from the barks of Ligstrum japonicum Thunb. which is used in Chinese drugs and their structures were elucidated by using IR, PMR, 13C-NMR, and electron impact mass spectrometry. Besides this conventional analytical methods, field desorption mass spectrometry was successfully used for the first time for the determination and confirmation of the structures of naturally occurring lignan-glycosides and their acetyl derivatives. Two new lignan-glycosides and one new alkene-oligogly-coside were characterized.
