In the article “Urostent Designs,” published in the March 1987 Seminars in Interventional Radiology, Volume 4, Number 1, there are several references that confuse the catheter material C-Flex® and Percuflex®. Percuflex is a proprietary co-polymer material developed by and available exclusively from Medi-tech, Inc. C-Flex is a thermoplastic elastomer developed by Concept Polymer Technologies, Inc., and available through several medical companies.
The following references should be clarified:
• Page 26 - Flow Capacity
“…C-Flex material, produced by Medi-tech, makes it possible to create the largest available lumen for a catheter of a given outside diameter.” This should read “…Percuflex material produced by Medi-tech, makes it possible to create the largest available lumen for a catheter of a given outside diameter.”
• Page 27 - Table 1. Available Types of Urostents “Internal-external C-Flex, modified Castañeda Malecot.”
This should read “Internal-external Percuflex, modified Castaneda Malecot.” The other catheters under this heading are C-Flex.
• Page 27 -Pigtail
“Recently pigtail catheters made of C-Flex became available (Figure 1B).”
This should read “…Recently pigtail catheters made of Percuflex became available (Figure 1B).”
• Page 32 - Universal
“This 8 French to 14 French Straight C-Flex/Percuflex Stent (Medi-tech) can be customized to each patient with the aid of a paper punch.”
This should read “This 8 French to 14 French Straight Percuflex Stent (Medi-tech) can be customized to each patient with the aid of a paper punch.”
• Page 34 -Figure 16
“Universal Stents. A. C-Flex Stent (Medi-tech, Inc.)”
This should read “Universal Stents. A. Percuflex Stent (Medi-tech, Inc.)”
