ESGE Membership applications

Three societies have made formal applications to become ESGE Member Societies:

• Libya: Libyan society of gastrointestinal endoscopy

• Sudan: Sudanese Society of Gastroenterology

• UAE: Emirates Gastroenterology Society

Approval will be sought at the forthcoming ESGE General Assembly to be held in Vienna at the United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW) in October.

ESGE Councillor elections

ESGE National Societies have nominated the following representatives to stand for the position of Councillor at the forthcoming ESGE elections which will also be held at the ESGE General Assembly at the UEGW. Four positions are open for election:

• Austria: Florian Schreiber

• Denmark: Sören Meisner

• Finland: Marja-Leena Kylänpää

• France: Thierry Ponchon

• Israel: Simon Bar-Meir

• Poland: Marian Smoczyński

• Portugal: Mario Dinis Ribeiro

• UK: Björn Rembacken

ESGE meeting categories

At the recent ESGE Governing Board meeting held in Budapest it was decided that ESGE meeting categories should be changed to reflect the actual status. In future, the following terms will be used:

• ESGE Category A Event: ESGE Organized Event

• ESGE Category B Event: ESGE Sponsored Event

• ESGE Category C Event: ESGE Endorsed Event
