Summary
Introduction: In recent years, hygiene requirements for medical practices in Germany have been growing steadily. The background for this is the equalisation of process-related hygiene standards between inpatient and out-patient facilities.
Discussion: The situation is difficult regarding uniform nationwide requirements and there is a relative lack of practice- and process-oriented recommendations for the treating physician. This problem is addressed to some extent by publications of the Robert Koch Institute. The recommendations presented here are intended to provide specific well-structured process-oriented practice guidelines for sclerotherapists.
