Publication History

Publication Date:
10 July 2019 (online)

This will be my last editorial as chief editor of our journal. It has been an interesting three years at the helm of affairs. There were several decisions which had to be taken, related to publication ethics, duplication of articles, guest and gift authorships, and plagiarisation. Interacting with my seniors and peers was a learning experience, which undoubtedly stood me in good stead to deal with these issues. The editorial board, both national and international, has stood by me in most of these moments.

There is no doubt that the journal is now widely seen, read and even cited. However, as my predecessor remarked. if the journal is running smoothly, you become complacent and you are not doing enough. We need to push the journal to even greater limits.

We have to address the issue of costs of publication. They are constantly going up. As I have written several times in the past, please try and peruse the electronic version as much as possible. Please write a mail to editor@ijps.org expressing your willingness to relinquish the print edition. It will save the association a lot of money, and the publication house a lot of time, effort and paper.

There is a lot of scope for adding material to the journal site. Procedural videos and online CMEs are two such great additions. The portal also needs streamlining for submission and reviews.

I am very confident that my worthy successor, Dinesh Kadam will be more than equal to the task, and will take the journal to greater heights.

All that remains is to bid adieu, to all those who assisted me in this journey, and of course, you, the readers and contributors who made this possible.
