In Anbetracht der hohen Implantationszahlen von Hüft- und Knieprothesen in Kombination mit steigender Lebenserwartung und anhaltender Aktivität bis ins hohe Alter wird in Deutschland die Inzidenz periprothetischer Femurfrakturen stark zunehmen. Gerade beim geriatrischen Patienten ist die Ursache hierfür häufig eine schleichende Fraktur bzw. ein niedrig-energetisches Trauma. Der nachfolgende Artikel gibt einen Überblick über Klassifikation, Diagnostik, Therapie und Nachbehandlung.
