During these difficult and unprecedented times, I am proud to introduce this quarters issue of Ultrasound International Open which is packed with high quality articles.

The first scientific paper from Norway highlights the robustness of liver stiffness measurements with point shearwave elastography where factors once thought to affect these values are perhaps not as significant as previously envisaged.

This is followed by the presentation of a rare case of testicular metastatic sarcoma from an unknown primary where the diagnosis was challenging.

There are then two excellent review and teaching articles which have been beautifully illustrated on the diagnosis of autoimmune pancreatitis and the use of contrast ultrasound in non-traumatic abdominal emergencies.

Finally, the last paper increases our awareness and importance in considering a diagnosis of epiploic appendagitis in cases of acute lower abdominal pain.

These articles are of high educational value and will hopefully keep you entertained during the “lockdown” periods.

Meanwhile, until we can all meet up in person again, please keep well.

On behalf of the UIO editors.
