Alte, aber immer noch häufig eingesetzte Definition der transitorisch-ischämischen Attacke (TIA): plötzlich auftretende fokal-neurologische Ausfälle, die durch eine zerebrale Durchblutungsstörung bedingt sind und sich innerhalb von 24h komplett zurückbilden. Die neue Definition lautet: Symptomdauer der fokal-neurologischen Ausfälle <1h und im MRT kein Ischämienachweis.
