How Electrodiagnostics Can Help in Differentiating Non-Arteritic Ischemic Optic Neuropathy from Normal Tension Glaucoma
Wie mithilfe der Elektrodiagnostik eine nicht arteriitische ischämische Optikusneuropathie von einem Normadruckglaukom unterschieden werden kannIntroduction
Due to the similar morphological retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) damage, it is usually difficult to differentiate between eyes with non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) and normal tension glaucoma (NTG) [1]. Compared to eyes with NAION that suffer transient non-perfusion or hypoperfusion of the optic nerve head, eyes with NTG are prone to suffer permanently disturbed vascular dysregulation [2], [3]. In order to differentiate between both conditions, we performed a combined electrodiagnostic approach in the presented case.
