Marcelo Simas de Lima et al. Tube-in-tube endoscopic vacuum therapy for the closure of upper gastrointestinal fistulas, leaks, and perforations
A modified endoscopic vacuum therapy technique with double tubes and without the need for frequent exchanges was evaluated in 30 patients with upper gastrointestinal postoperative fistulas/leakage in this retrospective study. Although the technical and clinical success rates were high, three patients (10 %) had adverse events and three patients (10 %) died of unrelated causes. Further studies are needed to compare this method with other closure techniques.
