A myxoma of the left atrium with dual vascularization from the right coronary artery
Ein Myxom des linken Vorhofes mit dualer Vaskularisation aus der rechten KoronararterieIntroduction
Myxomas derive from multipotent mesenchymal cells and are the most common benign tumor of the heart whereas cardiac tumors are generally a very rare Entity with an incidence of approximately 0,002–0,03 %. In most case they are located in the left atrium but can be also be found in other heart chambers. (Rahouma, M. et al. International Journal of Surgery 2020; 76: 178–189). Common symptoms are unspecific with palpitations, dyspnea and vertigo caused by embolism or intracardiac obstruction but in a large number of patients, no symptoms occur at all (Shapiro LM. Heart. 2001; 85(2): 218–222). Neovascularization of cardiac myxomas is shown in up to 50 % of all cases, and can influence the perioperative complications and therefore coronary CT or angiography can visualize the concerning anatomy and vascularization and determine the chosen resection approach. (Rahmanian PB. et al. Interact CardiovascThoracSurg 2007; 6(4): 479–483).
