Xi Jiang et al. Small-sized versus standard magnetic capsule endoscopy in adults: a two-center, double-blinded randomized controlled trial
Magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy using a standard capsule was compared with use of a small-sized capsule in this randomized trial of 96 patients. The smaller capsule (approximately 60 % of the volume and weight of the standard capsule) was swallowed with less difficulty, while achieving overall visualization comparable with the standard capsule. Whether the observed shorter gastric and the longer small-bowel transit times translate into a diagnostic benefit needs to be explored in future studies.
