Intensive downstaging polypectomy, including cold snare/forceps polypectomy and underwater mucosal resection, was shown to: significantly downstage Spigelman stages of duodenal adenomas in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis, with acceptable adverse events, in this prospective study. Ultimately, this may reduce the overall duodenal polyp burden and the number of surgical interventions for advanced stages.
