Toufic Kachaamy et al. A prospective multicenter study to evaluate the impact of cryotherapy on dysphagia and quality of life in patients with inoperable esophageal cancer

The effect of cryotherapy on dysphagia and quality of life (QoL) was investigated in a prospective study of 55 patients with inoperable esophageal cancer undergoing systemic therapy. Dysphagia and QoL significantly improved after a mean of 3.2 cryotherapy sessions, with more intensive cryotherapy resulting in a greater improvement in dysphagia. In selected patients with inoperable esophageal cancer, cryotherapy can be considered as an alternative treatment modality for palliation of dysphagia.
