Der klinische Fall

Ein 2-jähriger Morgan Horse Hengst wurde zur Kastration vorgestellt. Die präoperativen Voruntersuchungen waren unauffällig und die Narkose verlief problemlos. In der Aufstehphase zeigte der Hengst plötzlich starke Exzitationen verbunden mit einem hochgradigen Schweißausbruch und nach kurzer Zeit mehrere, teilweise erfolgreiche, jedoch nicht durchgehaltene Aufstehversuche. Schließlich blieb das Pferd in Seitenlage liegen, die Reflexe an der Hinterhand waren nicht mehr auslösbar und die Tiefensensibilität war nicht mehr nachweisbar. Da sich trotz Therapie keine Besserung der Symptomatik zeigte und der Hengst ein Lungenödem entwickelte, wurde er nach Rücksprache mit der Besitzerin euthanasiert.
