Jen-Hao Yeh et al. Prevalence and predictive factors of colorectal sessile serrated
lesions in younger individuals
The prevalences of sessile serrated lesions (SSLs) and clinically significant serrated
polyps (CSSPs) were retrospectively studied in patients aged <50 versus ≥50 years.
In patients aged <50 years (n = 4712 [47.8%]), significantly lower prevalences of
adenomas (22.6% vs. 46.2%) and right-sided adenomas (11.2% vs. 27.2%) were detected,
while the SSL and CSSP rates were similar (7.2% vs. 6.5%; 10.3% vs. 10.3%, respectively).
Awareness that SSLs are not uncommon in younger individuals may increase SSL and CSSP
detection.
