Belén Martinez-Moreno et al. Correlation of endoscopic ultrasound-guided portal pressure gradient measurements with hepatic venous pressure gradient: a prospective study

In patients (n = 33) with suspected or diagnosed chronic portal hypertension, the portal pressure gradient was measured by direct needle puncture of the portal and hepatic veins under endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) guidance and by transjugular hepatic venous pressure gradient measurements. An almost perfect correlation was demonstrated between the two measuring techniques (intraclass correlation coefficient 0.82, 95%CI 0.65–0.91). Two bleeding adverse events (7%) related to the EUS-guided technique were successfully treated endoscopically.
