Medical and Vocational Rehabilitation for People with Mental Illness: Effects on Resilience, Self-Stigma, and Quality of Life. A Scoping ReviewAuthors
Zusammenfassung
Ziel
Schlussfolgerung
Abstract
Objective
This scoping review examines the effects of medical and vocational psychiatric rehabilitation on resilience, self-stigmatization, and quality of life in adults.
Methods
Scoping review following JBI guidelines with searches in PubMed, PubPsych, and REHABDATA, plus supplementary searches.
Results
From n=1.247 titles, n=38 studies were included, of which n=36 (94,74%) address vocational rehabilitation services and n=16 (42,11%) medical ones. Resilience is strengthened through relationship building and shared decision-making. Self-stigma is reduced through peer support and empowerment, while quality of life can improve through employment.
Conclusion
Recovery-oriented approaches with individual goal setting show positive effects on all three dimensions and support the paradigm shift toward holistic life enhancement.
