Abstract
In the phoniatric practice, the videostrobolaryngoscopy as an important part of a multidimensional voice analysis is a globally recognised and carried out routine investigation. The assessment in clinical routine is despite all the innovations and technical assistance so far subjective and verbal descriptive. For a quantitative assessment there is not yet enforced an uniform scheme, although several schemes were proposed. With the rating scheme presented the stroboscopic findings of Amplitude, Mucosal wave, Symmetry and Glottic closure are quantified in a numerical severity. There is a classification into four severity levels (0 = inconspicuous, 1 = slightly, 2 = moderate and 3 = highly conspicuous) for each parameter individually. The sum of the individual evaluations gives the overall severity of the disorder with in daily practice reasonable expenses. In addition to the diagnosis and treatment process control of a voice disturbance there is given the possibility of severity assignment of the findings for medical opinions, other disciplines and a basis for statistical calculations.
