Introduction

Meningiomas are benign neoplasms of meningeal origin. Meningiomas constitute approximately 20% of all intracranial tumors and occur predominantly during the 5th and 6th decades of life [1]. Childhood and adolescence meningiomas are relatively rare and must be considered individually, as they have different features to adult meningiomas. Congenital meningiomas diagnosed in infancy are even rarer.

Pediatric meningiomas make up 1–2.8% of all meningiomas and 0.4–4.1% of all intracranial pediatric tumors. In children, meningiomas tend to grow rapidly, undergo malignant changes, and are likely to recur. The prognosis in children is poor.
