Zusammenfassung
Neoplasien des äußeren männlichen Genitales kommen beim Pferd, im Vergleich zu anderen Haustieren speziell beim Hund, seltener vor. In vielen Fällen handelt es sich um Plattenepithelkarzinome oder equine Sarkoide, seltener um Papillome, Melanome, Fibrome, Fibrosarkome oder Lymphome. Von Plattenepithelkarzinomen sind ältere Pferde, meist Wallache, gelegentlich auch Hengste, betroffen, wohingegen jüngere Pferde eher eine Disposition für equine Sarkoide haben. Ein besonders Augenmerk gilt der Diagnostik sowie einer frühzeitigen, zielgerichteten Therapie, bevor die Tumoren infolge invasivem Wachstum oder sogar Metastasierung unzugänglich werden.
Summary
Compared to other animals, especially companion animals like dogs, neoplasias of the external genitalia are rarely diagnosed in the horse. The most commonly occurring tumors are squmaous cell carcinomas and equine sarcoids; papillomas, melanomas, fibromas, fibrosarcomas or lymphomas are found more infrequently. Squamous cell carcinomas usually afflict older horses, mostly geldings and occasionally stallions, while younger horses tend to have a disposition towards developing equine sarcoids. Special attention should be paid to thorough diagnostics in order to initiate a precise therapy at an early stage, before the tumors are inaccessible due to invasive growth or even metastasis.
