Anästhesiologische Hilfeleistung in Westafrika – Zielsetzungen, Schwierigkeiten und Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten

Die Entwicklung der Medizin in den industrialisierten Ländern hält (global betrachtet) unvermindert an – trotz wirtschaftlicher Engpässe und weltweit angespannter Finanzlage. Die Gesundheitssysteme in den Entwicklungsländern sind an diesem Fortschritt jedoch kaum beteiligt. Dies gilt auch für das Fachgebiet der Anästhesiologie und Intensivmedizin. Gelegentlich macht die Vakanz von anästhesiologischen Fachkräften eine operative Grundversorgung in weiten Teilen der 3. Welt unmöglich – trotz der Verfügbarkeit von chirurgischem Personal [1]. Mangelnde Finanzkraft kombiniert mit einer fehlenden medizinischen Basisversorgung ist eines der Grundprobleme der Entwicklungsländer. In diesem Vakuum haben sich in der Vergangenheit immer wieder viele Hilfsorganisationen engagiert. Im Rahmen medizinischer Unterstützung ist auch die anästhesiologische Hilfestellung in den Fokus geraten [2] [3].
