Dr. Craig A. Reickert is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Wayne State University, and Program Director of the Colon and Rectal Fellowship at Henry Ford Health System, Detroit, Michigan.

Born in Detroit, Craig received his B.S. and M.D. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He completed his General Surgery Residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, which included 2 years of research in extra corporal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and liquid ventilation. After his residency, he spent a year as a Surgical Critical Care and ECMO fellow at the University of Michigan and then completed his Colon and Rectal Surgery training at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduation, he spent 2 years as a staff surgeon at the St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. In 2003, he moved back to the Henry Ford System.

Craig is an active clinician, who manages patients with uncommon colorectal neoplasms. He teaches fellows, residents, and students on a daily basis and was named Teacher of the Year in 2008. He is certified in General Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. He is also an active participant in multiple local and national surgical societies, including serving on several national committees of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. His contributions to the medical literature include over 26 publications.

Craig, his wife Eileen, who is also a physician, and their children Pearce, Aidan, and Evan live in suburban Detroit. When not working, Craig enjoys Tae Kwon Do, soccer, computers, volleyball, skiing, and model building, but much of his spare time is spent cheering for his amazing family in their numerous pursuits.
