Introduction
Emphysematous cystitis (EC) is a rare gas-forming acute infection of the bladder wall mucosa and musculature, which, because of its unspecific clinical picture and laboratory findings, is diagnosed predominantly by diagnostic imaging. We present the case of a diabetic woman referred to our department with vague abdominal complaints, who underwent an abdominal CT examination, which depicted diffuse gas collections throughout the bladder wall and an intravesical gas-fluid level.
