The hypertrophic wall of the arterialized shuntvein is, independant of its degree of fibrosis, of its morphology (aneurysm, dilatation, stenosis etc.) or its vascular supply, a suitable material to apply plastic surgical techniques within the low-pressure compartment of the shunt vein. Only a severe calcinosis of the vein wall can prevent the surgeon from applying these techniques.
