Einleitung
Die Häufigkeit von geburtshilflichen Operationen hat in den letzten Jahrzehnten deutlich zugenommen. Ursache dafür ist in erster Linie die steigende Sectiorate. Wurde bis 1960 in ca. 3–5 % eine Schnittentbindung durchgeführt, so kam es bis 1980 durch großzügigere fetale Indikationen zu einem Anstieg auf 10–15 %. In der Zwischenzeit liegt die Sectiofrequenz zwischen 20 und 50 %. Die Häufigkeit von vaginal-operativen Eingriffen ist zwar leicht rückläufig, hat aber immer noch einen hohen Stellenwert. So liegt die Rate für vaginal-operative Entbindung (VOE) in den Industriestaaten immer noch zwischen 5 und 20 % (je nach Herkunftsland) [1].
In Deutschland beträgt die Rate für vaginal-operative Entbindungen zwischen 3,5 und 8,5 %. Deutlich abgenommen hat die Rate der Zangengeburten, die in den verschiedenen Bundesländern von Deutschland zwischen 0,2 und 1,0 % liegt. Die Rate der vaginalen Entbindungen ist von Klinik zu Klinik sehr unterschiedlich und reicht von 0–70 % [2].
