  • Bei unklaren abdominalen Beschwerden stellt die Darmsonografie das bildgebende Verfahren der ersten Wahl dar.

  • Eine gute Geräteausstattung und erfahrene Untersucher sind eine wichtige Voraussetzung für die Erstellung valider Befunde.

  • Eine nachweisbare Darmwandverdickung > 3 mm ist das wichtigste sonografische Zeichen.

  • In der Abklärung von chronisch entzündlichen Darmerkrankungen, insbesondere Morbus Crohn, ist die Darmsonografie heute zur Beurteilung der entzündlichen Aktivität und bei der Beurteilung von Fisteln und Abszessen unverzichtbarer Bestandteil der Diagnostik.

  • Im Rahmen der Divertikulitis-, Appendizitis- und Leistenherniendiagnostik hat die Darmsonografie einen hohen Stellenwert.

  • Auch für den erfahrenen Untersucher ist es wichtig, die Grenzen der Methode zu kennen.

  • Neue sonografische Verfahren wie Elastografie und hochauflösende Dopplerverfahren werden die sonografische Diagnostik des Darms weiter verbessern.

  • Die Aus- und Weiterbildung in der Darmsonografie bleibt wichtig.
