Komplementäre Therapien bei Diabetes mellitus – Ein Überblick
Complementary therapies and diabetes mellitus type 2 – an overviewPublication History

Chronic diseases like diabetes mellitus type 2 caused by a problematic lifestyle can be improved by complementary and alternative therapies and naturopathy. Classic naturopathy in German speaking countries comprises phytotherapy, diet, physical activity, order-therapy/mind-body-therapy and hydro-/balneotherapy. Cinnamon (Cinnamon ceylonesis), bitter gourd (Momordica charantia) or fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) until now do not influence the usual therapeutic regimens of mellitus type 2 because of small or inconsistent effects. On the other hand vegetarian or naturopathic diet together with regular bodily training lower blood-glucose and metabolic excesses significantly. The necessary motivation and guidance by family doctors should follow the ideas of naturopathic order-therapy.
