Zusammenfassung

Der Artikel gibt eine Übersicht über die Möglichkeiten der Diagnostik von Tumoren des Magen-Darm-Trakts bei Hund und Katze, die oftmals eine diagnostische Herausforderung darstellen. Häufig weisen die Patienten unspezifische Symptome auf. Sowohl für die Prognose als auch für die Therapieoptionen sind Herkunft und Lokalisation, Ausbreitung sowie Dignität des Tumors wesentlich. Daher werden differenzierte diagnostische Verfahren zur Erkennung des Tumors benötigt. Diese Verfahren sind nicht notwendigerweise invasiv, aber vielfach von einem hohen apparativen Aufwand verbunden oder sie erfordern zur Ergänzung spezielle labordiagnostische Techniken. Die Kombination verschiedener bildgebender Verfahren mit differenzierter zytologischer oder histologischer Diagnostik bietet auf minimal invasivem Weg zurzeit die größte diagnostische Sicherheit und somit zunehmend bessere Informationen für Prognosestellung und Therapie.

Summary

This article reviews the different diagnostic techniques for tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. Tumors of the gastrointestinal tract in dogs and cats frequently represent a diagnostic challenge. Patients often display unspecific clinical signs. However, prognoses as well as applicable therapeutic options strongly depend on the type of tumor, its organ of origin and its distribution throughout the abdominal cavity. Therefore, specific diagnostic techniques are needed. They are not necessarily invasive but often require a specialized technical equipment or additional laboratory techniques. The combination of different imaging techniques with cytologic and/or histologic investigations represents minimally invasive procedures with good diagnostic security leading to improved information for an evaluation of prognosis and therapeutic options.
