Summary
This articles summarizes the problems in patients suffering from a neuropathy as well as an entrapment syndrome, which is in most cases an carpal tunnel syndrome. Emphasis is put on the neurophysiological techniques used to diagnose an entrapment syndrome in those patients. In a new parameter, the delay above the lesion is described. In a second part, the differential diagnosis between an entrapment syndrome and a mononeuropathy multiplex and a multifocal motor neuropathy is given. In any case, also in patients suffering from a generalized neuropathy the surgery of the entrapment syndrome may be advantageous for the patient.
